Nicholas Oakwell couture S/S 2012
Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Nicholas Oakwell couture Spring/Summer 2012 show at Claridge's. I was actually really excited to see what Nicholas had been working on because in case you missed it, Nicholas gave one of the pieces from his previous collection to a client for the finale weekend of The X-Factor UK (click here) and with it being award season right now, well...
For a designer to dress a celebrity, it's fairly normal... however in this particular case it was extra special. Not just because Nicholas Oakwell is a British couturier, or that it was a piece from his debut collection, but more because Kelly was the first celebrity to wear one of his one-off pieces that majority couturiers archive.
Nicholas' SS12 collection is something rather special. Touching on the glamour we recognise so well from the 60's/70's, Nicholas played with a great number of golds, silvers and whites. I also saw exotic alligator skins, feathers, prints, beads, coloured plastics, leathers, and one favourite piece of mine was a beautiful white Ostrich coat dripping in feathers which opened the show. Metals were also not to be missed. Shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood designed some pretty striking footwear.
Majority of the collection was simply heaven for any editorial stylist. The finale (plus the 3 gowns before her - yes, i called the dress "her". Another one of my thingy majiggys), perfect for a red carpet something! ;)

ps.. one thing I do appreciate about couturiers like Nicholas Oakwell is their commitment to detail! Something we can all most certainly benefit from.

PHOTO: My 2 Cents, Dior Pre-Fall 2012..
I have a saying.. when i love the hell out of something, like i mean seriously LOVE something, like i do these Dior pre fall looks, i say and do the following.. "The Christian Dior pre-fall 2012 collection is ALLLLLL *click fingers in rectangular motion from left to right* that and a bag of chips dipped in diet f**king coke, AND (dramatic pause) *nod head whilst pouting the lips* a salad on the side!" I've had this saying thingy, whatever you wanna call it, since before my parents got "jiggy wid it". So there.. my 2 cents on Dior pre-fall 12, which i just HAD to share with you of course! ;)
